Galafassi explores arts-based co-creation processes for sustainability, investigating art's role in these transformations

Diego Galafassi has been developing arts-based approaches for knowledge co-creation in various cases worldwide. Currently, he is leading a research project on the role of emerging media and interactive technologies in sustainability transformations, in particular in futures-oriented processes.

Galafassi is a transdisciplinary researcher and artist from Brazil with a practice grounded at the interface of art, sciences and co-creative processes. In his Ph.D. “The Transformative Imagination” conducted at the Stockholm Resilience Centre, he looked at the role of co-creation of knowledge and artistic practices in transformations towards sustainability.

He has been engaged in capacity building programs for various areas of the creative sector including performing arts, film and music. In partnership with Julie’s Bicycle (UK), Galafassi led the Creative Climate Leadership program in Scandinavia, focusing on capacity building for transformations in the creative sector. He is a member of the advisory committee for the Global Climate Storytellers network and has hosted the Climate Story Lab Nordic. Alongside David Tábara, he co-hosted the 2021 Transformations Conference.
